Being a Florida wedding photographer, I get the great fortune of being a short drive from several beaches! I love when I get to head out to an engagement session with beautiful, natural light to create some photoshoot magic. Recently engaged and want to head out for your engagement photos to the shores? Here’s 6 things to expect when shooting on the beach!

1.) You’ll have a beautiful blank canvas to be yourself!

Are you or your fiancé a little timid or nervous? When having your engagement session at the beach, you’ll have plenty of room to breathe and be yourself! You can shake out any nerves, make jokes with each other and feel free to run around and have fun!

2.) It will probably be windier than you thought it would be. If you have long hair, plan accordingly!

Florida weather can always be a little crazy, especially near the beach! Be prepared for hair flips!

3.) You WILL get dirty! If you don’t want to get dirty, reconsider the beach option. Also just go ahead and bring a towel and possibly a change of clothes!

Sand, water, wind- you’re going to be right in the elements. Will you have incredible engagement photos? Absolutely! Will you also for sure have sand everywhere? Yes!

4.) Your photographer will be doing everything based on what the sun is doing. Trust them when they say something works better.

5.) If you plan on getting in the water (like full out, waves crashing-full on “The Notebook” moments) be prepared for the waves to be stronger than they look in pictures. This is definitely an adventure and you have to be open to having some fun!
